Try out new Doomscrolling!
Doomscrolling is playable now!
Please check it out and leave feedback, whatever it is, feel free to be direct and honest!
I initially created DoomScrolling as an entry for Ludum Dare 57 in 48 hours. At the time of compo I hugely overestimated my own abilities, thinking that I’ll be able to implement bare minimum for people to play and enjoy the game.
I looked at people running the game and not understanding what to do from the very beginning even though I’ve added a simple version of tutorial there. It was painful to observe that nothing in the game works, and how far it is from what I was planning.
However, I built something during these 48 hours, and I thought maybe I can give it a chance and bring it to the playable state. So here we are.
I rethought main mechanics, quickly iterating with the paper prototype (let me know if you want to learn more, I can write another post on it), did multiple iterations over UI, and completed with the list of things I wish I had on the compo. So here what you can find in the game now:
- Card-like battle system that requires to search for optimal play of available options
- Deck building system that allows for multiple valid tactics
- Anxious and pressing atmosphere of doomscrolling
- Interactive tutorial, guiding the new player through basics
- Sounds
- I also added basic analytics to look at what’s happening during play sessions and maybe add adjustments in the future.
Once again, I really appreciate any feedback, and hope you will try Doom Scrolling!
